Joy is a congregation on a mission serving throughout Lexington County. We meet at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home (4720 Augusta Rd. Lexington, SC 29073) on Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m. We offer a traditional, Scripture-based worship service from the Lutheran Book of Worship, and celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion each Sunday.
As disciples of Jesus Christ, Joy is committed to fulfilling the great commission as found in the book of Matthew, chapter 28 verses 18-20:
And Jesus came and said to [His disciples], “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (ESV – English Standard Version)
Joy is a people, gathered by the Holy Spirit and committed to being and making disciples for Jesus. We do this by growing in our relationships with God, one another, and our community though worship, fellowship, and living out our discipleship. Our purpose is simple. Love God. Love neighbor. Serve with joy in Jesus’ name.
As the pastor for Joy, it is an awesome privilege to witness how God is growing Christ’s Church in our community and beyond. Come and see for yourself. Come and experience Joy. Everyone is welcome. Come as you are to hear God’s Word and be forgiven, empowered, transformed, and set free to live into the mission and ministry entrusted to us by Jesus Christ, our Lord.
In the Peace and Joy of His Love,
Pastor Paulette McHugh
